Musashibo Benkei (武蔵坊弁慶) is one of the main protagonists of the Genji series, he's a warrior monk who serves as Minamoto Yoshitsune's vassal. In Genji: Dawn of the Samurai, he first appears as the third boss of the Chapter 1 and is overall the third boss of the game.
Appearance[]
Benkei has a big and muscular body, it can also be noticed that he's bald, just like an ordinary monk. He wears a big red armor with a black suit inside, and some red ropes which cover his right arm. According to Minazuru, Benkei is described as "a warrior monk who is seven feet tall and is extraordinary strong".
Personality[]
Benkei is strong, hot-headed and a little impatient. He usually acts rash and sometimes can be mean to other people. However, deep inside his rude manner is a warrior's pure heart and an unbeatable will. He looks up to Yoshitsune as his superior and willing to stand by him no matter the cost.
Strategy[]
For an early game boss, Benkei can be quite difficult for some first time Players, esspasitly given the fact that he has Super Armor for all of his attacks, Benkei will attack Yoshitsune with a variate of club combos, he can preform a club swip from one to two time, sometimes he will do a club swing attack after preforming the double club combo, Benkei can also charge up his club with light blue energy and do the fallowing two attacks, he will ether do a charge club thurst or do a charge club spin, if Yoshitsune attacks Benkei for too long, he will block and counter Yoshitsune's attacks with a charge up club swing, the strategy for this is to keep your distance from him and attack after Benkei preforms an attack, an easy strategy for him is to get on one of the bars of the bridge that you and Benkei fight on, to which after that, Benkei will charge up his club with yellow energy and will atemp to bash you with it, get out of the way as soon as Benkei is about to bash you, if succeed, Benkei will get his club stuck for three seconds, allowing you to get clean hits on him.

- Benkei is the first boss of the game to have two health bars, to which the following bosses after Benkei (with the exception Kiyomori Taira, Iwayashiro, the third and final fight with Taira Shoki Moritoshi and the first, second and third and final battle with Kagekiyo) will have for the entire game.
- Benkei is the second boss in Genji: Dawn of the Samuri to not have any element abilities, though he does gain access to them after he becomes a Playable Character.
